Classes and Store › Linoleum Block Prints with Laurel York- JAN 30

Linoleum Block Prints with Laurel York- JAN 30

$135.00

January 30 9:00am to 5:00 CST

Lunch and coffee and tea are included in this tuition.

Learn how to carve and create beautiful block prints using linoleum.

Class will begin by looking at block print illustrations in books and discussing carving techniques. Then everyone will make a sketch and learn to transfer it onto a linoleum block which we will carve, ink and print.

**Students must purchase their own tools and bring these to class. The higher quality tools really make a difference in ease of carving and outcome of print, but the budget options are fine if you are not sure if you will continue with this craft. Laurel will have some higher quality tools to try out if you decide to go with the budget options.

Best quality recommended tools: Pfeil brand- At least two chisels, one v parting tool and one wider shallow gouge. Linoleum block cutter L 12/1 and Linoleum block cutter L 5/9.

Lower quality, more affordable options: Speed ball brand multitool or others- At least two chisels, one v parting tool and one wider shallow gouge
