September 27th 8:00am to 12:00pm CST
Join botanist Cooper Breeden on a jaunt through the woods to learn about the plants that call the Sequatchie Valley home and the stories they tell us. The primary focus of the class will be the identification of woody plants (trees, shrubs, and vines). We'll also talk about herbaceous plants that we encounter as we discuss broader ecological themes. We'll split the time between the classroom and the field. The field portion will be a 1 to 2 mile hike, moving at a slow pace. Whether you've never thought twice about a tree or you've been quietly learning plant names for years, this class will give you a basic framework for better understanding what's growing around you.
We encourage you to bring snacks and water for the hike and pack a lunch for after the class if you wish.
